Yes, I'm sorry for not updating...thanks for the reminder! It's coming...

I still meet with Herman almost every Wednesday...

Herman is still on the street. We still have the money sitting/waiting for him...I still give him clothes and food - but he's not open to getting counseling right now. After his time in prison, he had a good stretch where he showed some improvement towards his outlook.

Now he's back in a rut...causing trouble on the street...but we're still his friend, still trying to love on him.

I will bring some new love to the blog SOON!

Hey, can we get a little more follow up on how Herman is doing? It's been a while.

Have you gotten him in contact with a counselor? Does he have what he needs to spend the winter outdoors? Can you get him to Sojourner's place where he'd have a place to stay? Does anyone still visit him?

Anyone who claims to have never felt like a loser in need of love hasn't really lived.

On behalf of all of us losers - thanks!

I agree with the statement that often homeless persons are enigmas.

In our separation-driving society, we are trained and encourage to distance ourselves. This is evident from architecture (the loss of front porches on new homes) as well as how groups of people are looked at and 'treated' by us.

Money is the easiest thing to give or throw at problems. It's fast and does not require people to breech the society 'separation' barriers. People can give money and then say, "Hey I did my part" without really getting involved with the process of healing someone.

But that is not what Jesus did. Never did he throw money at a problem.

If we are to become more like Jesus, conversations, connections and caring should be a part of our lives. Money helps, but money alone is never enough.
